SHOT Show 2011: Closing thoughts….

The show is almost over, in fact for me it is over. I am writing this as I bounce around in the air somewhere over the Rocky Mountains… I am not sure when I got off the plane and on to a rollercoaster, ugh.

I have said before SentrySafe is a very unique company to work for. They recognize and encourage good ideas from any and every level of the company. The Home Defense Center is a perfect example of that philosophy in action. The Idea for the product came from our National Accounts Manager for Shooting Sports Matt Sobolewski who is an avid hunter and shooter. He identified a need for this product in his own home.

Our product team looked into the concept carefully and Scott Alread our Gun Safe product manager reached out to shooters and hunters and it turned out they were on to something. A lot of gun owners had been looking for a solution like this. That’s when our engineers and designers got to work and created the product we have been talking about so much over the past few days.

All this happened at SentrySafe’s home base in Rochester NY. This product was designed by American workers and will be built by them as well. It’s no small thing these days to be a manufacturer that has not only survived but grown and even added jobs.

We have been gratified and energized by the response to our new products. Because to the folks on our team these are not just products, these are hours of hard work, dedication and a tradition of American excellence that started with the company’s founder John D Brush over 80 years ago.

These are good people that I am thankful to work with. We appreciate all your support and patronage.

Be Safe.

SHOT Show 2011: Day 3

The show goes on in Vegas and so our coverage of our new Home Defense products continues here on the Safe Zone. Yesterday we talked about the Home Defense Center. Today we are going to take a closer look at the Quick Access Pistol Safe.

We are not the first to create a pistol safe, there many on the market. But we looked carefully at our distinguished competition and listened to hand gun owners from across the country and have developed a very compelling new product.

Our Quick Access Pistol Safe integrates in the zero feedback electronic lock technology from the Home Defense Center. It creates quick, quiet access into the safe. Once the code is punched in the compression gas strut quietly opens the door for you. It allows for one-handed access even in a confined space like a nightstand drawer.

The Quick Access Pistol Safe is made of a heavy-gauge steel and has a patent pending Pry Resistant door design. It can also be bolted down.

This is another great addition to our product line that offers quick, quiet access when you need it and a piece of mind that your hand gun is secure when you don’t. This new model was designed, engineered and will be manufactured in Rochester NY. Look for it in early summer.

Be Safe.

SHOT Show 2011: Day 2

It was another busy day at SHOT Show.  We have met so many great people, seen some crazy new things and talked to a lot of folks about our new Home Defense products. Yesterday I touched on the new products we are launching at the show and promised a more in depth look. Over the next few days will be showing, or linking to videos and reviews from a lot of different folks that came to the booth over the last few days.

But I won’t leave you all hanging in the meantime. Lets take a closer look at the star of the show and what we humbly believe is the most innovative Safe shown at the show this year. The new Home Defense Center is designed to be a game changer for personal defense. In our user research we uncovered a need for a smaller, more discreet unit that offers quick, easy and quiet access to select firearms. With that in mind we added a few other goals into the mix. We wanted it to be affordable and we wanted to make it in the USA at our factory in Rochester NY.

With that the team went to work and delivered in a big way. Let’s walk through some of the features of the unit…

Home Security experts recommend keeping your keys, cell phone, a flashlight and other personal items you would want in an emergency in the same place every night. Our unit offers an integrated personal defense tray built into the top of the unit, that way you know where your critical personal items are should you need them.

Getting in is easy with our new zero-feedback electronic lock. It’s easily programmable and offers a simple touch pad to get you in the unit quickly.  There is also a manual override key should you forget to replace the batteries or want to change the combination.

Once you turn the ergonomic handle the solid steel, one-inch security bolts slide quietly out of place. The key word to all this is quiet, whisper quiet in fact. All the moving parts have been specially engineered to be very smooth and virtually silent.

I am sure that by now you have noticed the unique corner design. This allows the unit to be stored discreetly in a corner or placed in a closet full of clothes and not is in the way. It also creates the wide berth door on the Home Defense Center opens to 180 degrees offering full access to the interior of the safe. The Door also offers a patent pending Pry Resistant design.

The pistol is held in a specially designed cradle for at the ready presentation.  The rifle is held in our new barrel containment system that keeps the rifle ready to pull and because of the wide berth door you don’t have to worry about clanging your rifle on the edges of the unit.

All of these features combine to make a one of the most innovative safes we have ever made, and certainly the most exciting safe unveiled at SHOT Show this year. The Home Defense Center got a lot of attention over the last couple days and there will be a lot of reviews and videos coming. We will be sure to share those as they come out here on the Safe Zone.

Thanks to everyone who came to visit us at the show, and for all the support.

Be Safe.

SHOT Show 2011: Day One…

Today was the culmination of a lot of hard work for the SentrySafe team. It was the opening day of the Shooting, Hunting, and Outdoor Trade (SHOT) Show!  Starting January 18th, 60,000 industry professionals from across the US and 75 countries around the world will gather in Las Vegas to see the latest advancements in firearms and hunting equipment.  Over a thousand companies will be showing off their best products and presenting new industry technologies for 2011.

SentrySafe was no different. Today our team unveiled two exciting and innovative new products that will create a new standard for home defense. Our new Quick Access Pistol Safe and Home Defense Center have been generating a lot of excitement in our both and have brought in folks from around the world to see it in person. We even had a visit from the Outdoor Channel’s hit show “What the Stuff “. They interviewed our very own Scott Alread about these two new products and will be doing a feature on them in the next few months. We will have more info on when you can see the episode, as we get closer to airtime.

It has been very gratifying to see all the excitement around our new Home Defense products. The team in Rochester NY has worked many long hours to create a high quality, innovative product that would serve the needs of the security conscious consumer. We feel we have a real winner on our hands with these products. Check back on the Safe Zone soon for a complete rundown on these new products and other updates from the SHOT show.
